Telders International Law Moot Court Competition

The Telders International Law Moot Court Competition is the most prestigious court competition in international law in Europe. The students will here try to solve a legal case which is based on a hypothetical conflict between two states.

The competition, which starts in September, is divided into two stages. During the first stage which lasts between October – January the contestants write their petitions. During the second and final stage in April, there will be oral proceedings against four other teams at the Peace Palace (Vredespaleis) before the International Court in The Hague.

Each participating country will have a team consisting of four people, where each group will be split into two subgroups divided into a defendant and an appellant state. The demands made on the contestants are high, requiring reading and advanced studies in international law and an ability to present logical and well-reasoned arguments.
