Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities rewards outstanding researchers and teache

Former doctoral student in Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law in Uppsala, Doctor of Law Mikael Ruotsi, receives a prize and SEK 50,000 from the Academy for deserving scientific work.

On 4 December 2020, Mikael Ruotsi defended his dissertation Swedish Freedom of Expression and International Law : The Constitutional Guarantees for Press Freedom and Freedom of Speech, and their relation to the European Convention on Human Rights, EU Law and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

Since then, he has served as rapporteur in the Riksdag's constitutional committee.

Recently, Mikael received SEK 1.6 million from the Foundation for Jurisprudential Research for his project "The Constitution as a safeguard for democracy and the rule of law - The Constitution as a safeguard for democracy and the rule of law – constitutional amendments and judicial review", which he will work with during a two-year postdoctoral position at Uppsala Faculty of Law.
