Words of remembrance for Professor Emeritus Gabriel Michanek

Professor Emeritus Gabriel Michanek has left us after a period of illness. Gabriel has worked at Juridicum for almost his entire professional life.
One exception was a ten-year period at Luleå University of Technology in the early 2000s. Gabriel's contributions to the Faculty of Law, and especially the subject of environmental law, have been significant. His deep and broad knowledge of environmental issues and the legal complications are well documented. Through his writing, he built up the subject systematically and in terms of knowledge and a large part of the range of courses available in the subject is Gabriel's merit.
He was an esteemed teacher and lecturer. As a work colleague, he was inspiring and with his deep knowledge many times the important sounding board. Gabriel's unwavering interest in the legal obstacles and instruments that exist around environmental and climate issues has inspired many researchers and laid the foundation for several research projects. The knowledge he possessed he generously shared, even after his retirement. The void he now leaves behind cannot be described in words.
