Professor Steffen Hindelang receives the 26th Humboldt scholarship

The Humboldt scholarship is part of a Swedish-German Programme for Scientific Cooperation established by Stiftelsen Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, and the Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung, with the aim to encourage research mobility. This year’s prize was awarded Professor Steffen Hindelang to be invited to the Department of Law, Uppsala University.

Stiftelsen Riksbankens Jubileumsfond has in agreement with the Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung established a Swedish-German Programme for Scientific Cooperation. One of the most important elements in this agreement are reciprocal Research Awards from Riksbankens jubileumsfond to outstanding German scholars and from the Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung to Swedish ones, for scientific work in the prize giving country. As a result, the Humboldt scholarship is announced on an annual basis since 1989.

The 2017 year award goes to Professor Steffen Hindelang who has a solid competence in in the areas of International Economic Law, EU law and German Public Law. His experience includes for example a position as Senior Fellow at the Walter Hallstein-Institute for European Constitutional Law, Humboldt-Universität Berlin, as well as strong contribution to the development and design of both German and International Investment Law. Since 2011 he is Professor at the Freie Universität Berlin.

Uppsala University has a strong and dynamic research environment in the area of European Law, with for example an ongoing project “Centralisation of Rulemaking in Europe: the Legal and Political Governance of the Financial Market”. The collaboration is expected to yield results within, especially, the areas of EU Law and International Investment Law.

Professor Hindelang will be in Uppsala for eight months during the period May-December, 2017.
